The Best of Hampton Roads Shopping - Malls and More

Next to fine dining and having fun at area attractions in Virginia Beach, Norfolk, and Williamsburg, one thing people visiting Hampton Roads like to do is shop! You'll find when you come here for your vacation there is no shortage of boutiques and stores offering everything from high-end goods to funky, eclectic offerings from local designers and crafters. We love to shop, too, and are definitely happy to point you in the right direction. If you have funds burning a hole in your bank account and want to pick up some gifts for the folks back home (or a few treats for yourself), here's a quick guide to the more popular shopping areas around the region.

Virginia Beach: If you enjoy shopping for designer clothing, beach souvenirs, and gifts for the home, there's no shortage of places to visit at the beach. Lynnhaven Mall is perhaps one of the most popular spots in town - there's a huge Macy's, a Barnes and Noble bookstore, and many smaller boutiques offering everything from toys to jewelry to cool gadgets for the home. Not far away, the Landstown Commons off Princess Anne and Dam Neck is more spread out, with a huge Kohl's and Bed, Bath, and Beyond anchoring smaller shops for apparel and gifts. After shopping, relax at Buffalo Wild Wings or head across the street to the Farmer's Market for something fresh and local to eat.

Norfolk: No stay in Norfolk is complete without a turn through MacArthur Center, Norfolk's own downtown shopping experience. Three floors of stores and restaurants await you. Browse through Nordstrom or the two-story Barnes and Noble, and check out the food court or any of the full-service restaurants when you're ready for a break. Afterward, don't forget to see what's new on Granby Street and elsewhere as you stroll downtown. Later on, you can hop on the Tide to the EVMC station and walk down to the shops in Ghent on Colley Avenue to browse antiques, health foods, and unique sporting goods.

Newport News: Newport News is a good place to shop if you're looking for something nice for friends and family. The Patrick Henry Mall features three anchors stores - Macy's, JCPenney, and Dillard's - and a host of smaller stores. City Center at Oyster Point, a more recent addition to the city, is more open-air and features some nice upper-end shops like Banana Republic, Jos. A. Bank, and The Mole Hole. Be sure to try any of the many restaurants, too, like Toby Keith's I Love This Bar and Grill.

Williamsburg: If you've been to Williamsburg before, we don't have to tell you about the huge Williamsburg Premium Outlets center on Richmond Road. If you're looking for a hot deal on the biggest name brands, this is the place to shop. Also, you can check out the New Town Williamburg community and shopping area for more gifts and jewelry and gourmet treats. Of course, there's always Colonial Williamsburg if you're looking for souvenirs.

Hampton Roads is a great place to exercise... by walking around malls and shopping centers. Come see what's for sale.
